A Memorable Weekend

Thank you to everyone for your cards, messages and gifts in honor of Cameron's 1st Birthday and Christening. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful family and friends.

Saturday we celebrated Cameron's formal christening and 1st Birthday Party. So many people came from far away to be with Cameron and us on his special day we really appreciate it! Cameron was so good, he did not cry all day! he is such a trooper.

Cameron loved his first taste of Birthday Cake on the 22nd - it's a good thing we did a trial run before the big party on Saturday because as you'll see below he really got into it!! And would you believe that he slept through the night after all the frosting...hmmmm frosting may become a regular on our dinner menu! Since that's one of 5 times in the last year that he has slept through the night!!!

All in all it was a great weekend and we are blessed to be so loved by so many people.

Here's an update on the medical front:
I was refraining from posting all of this for a while to give us a break from the medical stuff and allow everyone to simply enjoy Cameron turning ONE, especially me! :)

Last week was a very long week with not a lot of answers. We did not get to see the NS that we had wanted to, as she had an emergency surgery, so we saw Dr. McClone who is a very well respected surgeon now in semi-retirement. In any event he agreed Cameron needs the surgery, he was able to see some preliminary results from the CMG test and it showed an abnormality. We didn't get any further info.
I placed several calls to the urology dept to try and get the complete results with no success. Finally Friday night Dr. Yerkes called and gave us the word that the test shows signs consistent with a tethered cord and we must do the surgery to prevent further damage. There is VERY high pressure in his bladder. We have a ton of questions about this which we'll get answered this Tuesday the 29th.

Friday we also saw orthopedics and they did another x-ray, the Dr. mentioned it looked as though Cameron has hip spasticity. He agreed once the surgery is complete we'll hope this resolves the tightness in his hips, if it does not they'll fit Cameron for some night braces.

Tuesday is a big day---
We have lab work at 9am, when they called and told me to bring his first morning urine I nearly lost it - this child is ONE! I won't get into the method to which I have to collect this!!
We then see Dr. Bowman (the nuerosurgeon who is an expert at tethered cord release)
my hope is we will schedule the surgery and outline a plan of action. We will then head over to the main hospital for a chest xray and see Dr. Reynolds (the general surgeon) who is overseeing the diaphragmatic eventration. Our hope is there is no change on the x-ray and we can delay surgery for this issue, or maybe, just maybe cross it off our list of concerns???!!!!

So look for a post on Tuesday or Wednesday with all of the answers, at least I am hoping or I'll lose my mind!!!
